Family Promise

St. Paul’s UMC is a host church for The San Joaquin Family Promise

Families with children make up 35% of the people who experience homelessness in this country. Family homelessness is a non-partisan issue at the core of American values. We all agree that every child deserves a home.

SJC Family Promise is ready after two years of waiting to launch the initial host congregation rotations welcoming homeless families to the program. We are excited to start making a difference for these families as they rebuild their resources and find stable housing, jobs if needed, and gain other knowledge to stay safely together as a family.

We appreciate the congregation members who have stepped up to donate or assist with needs, such as set-up and clean-up before and after the hosting week and providing needed furniture, lamps etc to make the families' private sleeping areas as comfortable and homey as possible. The outpouring of support has been amazing!

We hope to be an expert hosting congregation with God's help and the help of committed people.

The Family Promise goal as an organization is to change the future for 1 million children by 2030.
