On March 19, we started our study of Paul and will continue with Paul most likely through April.
The Centering Prayer group has decided to break until fall. We should start up again in Sept. In the meantime, here’s some information about what Centering Prayer is. Hope to see you in the fall!
The Centering Prayer group meets on Tuesdays, at 6pm, in the Fireside Room. Centering prayer is a silent prayer. Similar to but different from meditation, it is clearing your mind, listening (instead of asking and praising) and consenting to the presence and activity of God in one’s life. It works to get one closer to God. Everyone experiences centering prayer in their own way. We also have a brief reading and discussion period before we begin our prayer time. Please come and join our small group..

This Sunday Reverend Mike Harrell will be providing us with the sermon and presiding over our communion service in Pastor Allison’s absence.
Please join us in the Sanctuary for Sunday Worship and sharing in the sacrament of Holy Communion. All are welcome to participate. You do not have to be a member of this church in order to receive Holy Communion. Whether you live in the area or are passing through our city, you’re welcome to come worship with us . Kids’ Zone is available where the children can, if they’d like, leave the sanctuary service with the youth leadership team around 10:20 for their lessons. The youth group leaders will bring the children back to sanctuary in time for communion.

This is an opportunity for St. Paul’s to host from 1 to 4 families in our Fellowship Hall for a 2 week period as they work towards getting a home of their own. Our congregation, with assistance from other churches, provide shelter, meals, snacks and companionship during their stay with us.

This class meets on Fridays. This week we’ll need to meet in our Fireside Room as the Fellowship Hall will be in use. The class is offered for free by a volunteer who teaches several different types of classes in other locations. Any love offerings will be donated back to St. Paul’s.
Come and work on your “temple” to keep it toned or even get into a little better shape than you’re currently in. Movement is good both physical and mental wellbeing.
An outdoor experience! This group meets in the gardens weekly on Friday mornings to keep our church grounds looking beautiful. They keep up with the many small (and some not-so-small) gardening maintenance tasks. If you love to rake, weed, prune, maybe tinker or just get your fingers in the dirt, we’d love to have you join us! Our group is getting older and can certainly use some younger energy from time to time. We’d appreciate any time you can devote to this. Even if you can join us just once a month or so.
This adult choir meets for rehearsals once a week to come together and tune up in order to make beautiful music for Sunday worship services. Come and join us! Child care is available.
These young voices of St. Paul’s UMC have a weekly 1 hour rehearsal which includes some singing and some beginning handbell instruction. (Adults interested in learning handbells are welcome to join). This group will usually sing during a church service once a month. Anne Talcott and Michelle and Darin Brown work so well with these kids to bring out their love for music. Rehearsal will be in the Music Room.
The church staff meets once a week in the office to review & discuss what’s been happening, what’s scheduled, any problems and how we can improve to make St. Paul’s a place for people to feel welcomed and included. They discuss the coming week(s) to make things flow as they should seek assistance from other team members if needed to make sure everything runs smoothly..

This is open to anyone who has volunteered to support Family Promise by helping to set up or clean up for our hosting weeks, driven the van, stayed overnight, provided a meal or part of a meal donated items or funds or helped in any way. Also, if you have not had a chance to volunteer and would like to find out how you can help, you’re also invited.
At the supper we’ll be sharing some new information with everyone on California’s additional requirements for any organization/volunteers working with children and youth.
A wonderful opportunity for folks to come meet and get to know Pastor Allison other than just the Pastor in the pulpit. It’s a great way to meet others from the congregation and find out about the different ministries of our church if you’re so inclined.

This group is open to anyone who wants to join, to sing, play an instrument or both. Come join this fun group as they get prepared to worship with the congregation, usually, a couple of Sundays a month, providing the congregation with a more upbeat twist to the traditional hymns. We also have some non-traditional instruments joined in with this group so if you have something you’d like to bring and play, please come and join us! Rehearsals are in the Sanctuary.
